Apple has rolled out the iOS 17.0.3 update, specifically targeting the recent overheating issues flagged by iPhone users. Last weekend, Apple recognized the issue, attributing it to software glitches, assuring that it wasn't related to the design of the iPhone 15 Pro.
Details of the iOS 17.0.3 Update
The latest iOS 17.0.3 carries the build number 21A360. To get this update, navigate to the Settings app, select General, and then tap on Software Update. Any iPhone model compatible with iOS 17 can install this update.
Highlighting the significance of the update, Apple mentioned: “This release offers crucial bug rectifications, security enhancements, and a solution to the issue where iPhones might operate at a higher temperature than usual.”
Following the launch of the iPhone 15, a myriad of users raised concerns about their devices getting unusually hot. Apple addressed these concerns in a statement, revealing a bug in iOS 17 that was affecting a segment of its user base, and assured users of a forthcoming software resolution.
In response to speculations, Apple clarified to 9to5Mac that the titanium framework of the iPhone 15 Pro wasn't the culprit behind the heating woes. Apple further stated that the novel design contributes to more efficient heat dissipation compared to its stainless steel predecessors.
Moreover, Apple pinpointed certain third-party applications, including Asphalt 9, Instagram, and Uber, as potential contributors to the iPhone's CPU overload. While Instagram and Uber have rolled out updates in the recent past, Asphalt 9 remains unchanged.
