Apple is rolling out some exciting AI features in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, called "Apple Intelligence." These are officially in beta and only available to developers in the US. But guess what? You can still get them working on your iPhone or iPad if you're outside the US, except if you're in the European Union or China. Why the Restriction?  Apple has limited these features to the US because they only support US English for now. If you don't mind using US English and have a compatible device, you can start playing with these new AI tools.  Supported Devices Apple Intelligence includes cool features like composing texts and emails, automating app actions, generating images, and summarizing documents. These features need a lot of processing power, so check if your device is compatible. You’ll need: - iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max - iPad with M1 or later Apple silicon processors  How to Install Beta Software If your device is compatible, you need to install the developer beta. Follow the instructions from the linked article to get the latest beta version, then follow these steps on your device: 1. Open Settings, go to General ➝ Language & Region. 2. Tap Add Language... and select English (US). 3. Tap Region and choose United States. (This won't affect your App Store region or purchases.) 4. Go back to Settings and select Apple Intelligence & Siri. 5. Tap Language and pick English (United States). 6. You can now join the Apple Intelligence waitlist. Tap Join Waitlist under the Apple Intelligence header. After a short wait, you should see Turn On Apple Intelligence. Tap it, and you'll get a welcome message confirming that the AI features are enabled on your device. Disclaimer:  Using beta software can be risky. It may have bugs and other issues that could affect your device's performance. Make sure to back up your data before installing the beta. Warning:  Proceed with caution and be prepared for potential software glitches. Beta versions are not the final product and may have unforeseen problems. Use Migration Assistant to copy all of your documents, apps, user accounts and settings to a new Mac from another computer. Do you need these steps? The steps in this article describe how to transfer content from one Mac to another Mac over Wi-Fi. It’s also possible to transfer content from a Time Machine backup, or from a Windows PC, or from an iPhone. Before you begin • Update the software on both computers, if possible. • Make sure both computers have Wi-Fi turned on and are near each other. If either of them are using OS X El Capitan or earlier, they should also be on the same Wi-Fi network. • If you’ve installed antivirus software, firewall software or VPN software, turn that software off until you’ve finished. Use Migration Assistant You’re now ready to use Migration Assistant to transfer content from the old Mac to the new one. Migration Assistant copies but does not delete files from your old Mac. On your new Mac 1. Open Migration Assistant on your new Mac. Then click Continue. • Migration Assistant is in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder. To open the Utilities folder directly, you can choose Go > Utilities from the menu bar in the Finder. Or use Spotlight If your Mac starts up to a setup assistant, which asks for details such as your country and network, continue to the next step, because the setup assistant includes a migration assistant. 2. When Migration Assistant asks you for permission to make changes, enter your administrator password, then click OK. 3. When asked how you want to transfer your information, select the option to transfer from a Mac, Time Machine backup or startup disk. Then click Continue. On your old Mac 1. Open Migration Assistant on your old Mac. Then click Continue. 2. When asked how you want to transfer your information, select the option to transfer to another Mac. Then click Continue. On your new Mac When asked to select a Mac, Time Machine backup or other startup disk, select the other Mac. Then click Continue. On your old Mac If you see a security code, make sure it's the same as the one displayed on your new Mac. Then click Continue. On your new Mac 1. Migration Assistant will now catalogue all of the content on your old Mac, and calculate how much storage space is being used by your apps, user accounts, files, folders and settings. This can take a few minutes. When ready, select the information to transfer. 2. Before clicking Continue, find out what it means to transfer a user account. In the example pictured here, Danny Rico is a user account on the old Mac. If an account on the new Mac has the same name, Migration Assistant will ask whether to rename or replace: • Rename: the account on your old Mac will appear as an additional user on your new Mac, with a separate login and home folder. • Replace: the account on your old Mac will replace the identically named account on your new Mac. 3. Large transfers may need hours to be completed, and may seem to pause occasionally. You may want to start in the evening and allow migration to be completed overnight. Click Continue to start the transfer. 4. After the migration process has finished, close Migration Assistant on both computers, then log in to the migrated account on your new Mac to see its files.
